All-New, All-Astounding Avengers #160 – ‘The Rings Under My Eyes’

Posted on October 30, 2024October 30, 2024 by phil.wrede
Domino lands a flying kick to the X-Cutioner’s face on the evening White House lawn. The title of this comic, “All-New, All-Astounding Avengers Presents… ‘The Rings Under My Eyes’,” is visible at the top of the image.
Domino tries to reason with the X-Cutioner, but to little avail. Cyclops joins the conversation as Domino gets exasperated.
The X-Cutioner doubles down on his hateful rhetoric, and Cyclops and Domino decide to take him down.
Cyclops unleashes an optic blast and Domino shoots her SMGs into the X-Cutioner. Beast dodges machine gun fire from a Tracksuit Mafioso’s M-16, and Bishop sticks his gun in the face of a HYDRA agent.
Darkstar lifts some of the henchmen into the air with her darkforce powers. Bishop and Beast knock down their respective opponents.
Domino delivers a sliding kick to the X-Cutioner’s gut, staggering him.

The X-Cutioner demonstrates his unwillingness to reconcile, so Domino blows him away.
President Kirby (“played” by an action figure of Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead series, and named for legendary comics creator Jack “The King” Kirby) stands with Domino over the stunned body of the X-Cutioner. Beast, Bishop, and Darkstar take a breath.
The credits for the comic strip, citing the U.S. National Archives photos that were the background art, the use of fonts by Blambot, the stock visual effects photography by Action VFX, the ownership of Marvel by Disney, the creation of Marvel characters by actual human beings, and the figure and certain background photography/script/lettering by me, Phil Wrede.

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
