All-New, All-Intelligent Avengers #148 – ‘Everyone Else Continues to Stand’

Posted on August 7, 2024August 2, 2024 by phil.wrede
Inside the Baxter Building (the headquarters of the Fantastic Four), Johnny Storm can barely control his flame powers at the sound of the building’s alert siren sounding. Former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Kate Neville (“played” here by an action figure of Emily Van Camp from her appearances in the MCU) stands beside Storm, although not too close. The title of this comic, “All-New, All-Intelligent Avengers Presents… ‘Everyone Else Continues to Stand’,” is visible at the top of the image.
Sue Storm-Richards and her husband, Reed, stand off against the Super-Skrull, Kl’rt, in the Baxter Building’s lobby. Johnny fully activates his flame powers and goes to join his family, leaving Neville alone in the hallway.
Ben Grimm, the Thing, summons the FF’s robot buddy, H.E.R.B.I.E., to watch the Super-Skrull’s associate Nihilus as the fight begins.
Meanwhile, in the Daily Bugle building, J. Jonah Jameson shouts at his son John (“played” here by an action figure of professional wrestler Cody Rhodes) as he tries to turn on his video chat.
Jameson’s video call is joined by President Kirby (“played” here by an action figure of Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead franchise) and the Reverend William Stryker (“played” by an action figure of Michael Fassbender from the X-Men movies). Kirby and Stryker, both candidates for president, begin arguing immediately.
Kirby and Stryker continue their argument, seemingly unwilling to begin their formal debate.
On the streets of New York City, Spider-Man fights with the gangster Hammerhead, disarming him with a simple webline.
As the Fantastic Four finally assembles before the Super-Skrull, Kate Neville activates the portal to the Negative Zone!
Black Widow and the Fabulous Frog-Man position themselves between their fellow Avenger Jocasta, and the flunkies Justin Hammer sent to kidnap her again: the Scorpion, and a Doombot. Jocasta appeals to the Doombot to help her, once again, but it is unable to comply.

Thanks to my post-vacation sickness, we took a detour from the main story in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe last week to the nonspecific parallel Earth where Jimmy Woo is the Spectacular Spider-Protector! I hope you enjoyed reading it; I sure enjoyed putting it together (long before I got ill, anyway)! Now, though, we’re back to the action, the dances of words and powers that define superhero adventures!

Like always, if this is your first visit to Pizzarat.net, welcome, and please stay a while by using the links below to catch up on our story so far:

  • Part One (wherein we visit the Negative Zone, and New Mexico, and Long Island!)
  • Part Two (wherein terrible foes make a fresh, unwelcome alliance!)
  • Part Three (wherein the Beast and Jocasta both take action!)
  • Part Four (wherein Jocasta escapes, and Kate Neville infiltrates!)
  • Part Five (wherein sides are chosen, and fights are threatened!)

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
