All-New, All-Intelligent Avengers #150 – ‘We Cast Our Lines Into an Ocean’

Posted on August 21, 2024August 21, 2024 by phil.wrede
On the streets of New York City, the Scorpion catches the Black Widow across her midsection with a strike from his mechanical tail weapon. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Intelligent Avengers Presents… ‘We Case Our Lines Into an Ocean’,” is visible at the top of the image.
As the Scorpion readies himself for another strike, he’s interrupted as a red, white, and blue shield strikes him in the back. Both he and Black Widow exclaim confusion about the thrower of this mighty shield…
It’s the Starjammers’ mystery Captain America who threw that shield strike, and as he emerges, the android Jocasta fights hand-to-hand with a Doombot.
The Doombot leaps into the air and brings its fist crashing down. Jocasta manages to dodge out of the way of its brutal strike.
Meanwhile, in the Baxter Building, Kl’rt the Super-Skrull (and apparently King of the Negative Zone) transforms his staff into an enormous, two-bladed sword, which he swings at the Thing and the Human Torch.
More Starjammers arrive in the street fight - the Black Knight joins in as Ironheart steps in to fight the Doombot.
Nebula stabs the Doombot from behind, and right through the chest, lifting it off the ground. The Super-Skrull also takes to the air, as the Torch rips off a flame blast against him.
Online, the X-Cutioner joins the live-streamed debate between Reverend Stryker and President Kirby (“played” here by an action figure of Bruce Campbell from the Evil Dead franchise), and J. Jonah Jameson declares that the mutant-hating villain wasn’t invited to the debate. Simultaneously, in the Negative Zone, former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Kate Neville (“played” here by an action figure of Emily Van Camp from the MCU) lifts an enormous gem of palladium with her bare hands.
The palladium seems to seep directly into Kate Neville’s body, while the phony Captain America approaches the Black Widow, and Ironheart is struck in the back by an arrow, shot by an unknown adversary!

My goodness – we’ve arrived at one hundred and fifty (150!) installments of the “main” story here of the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe! Back in #100 (July 2023), Domino and War Machine were amicably breaking up, and Tony Stark was just beginning his (short-lived) relationship with Jocasta. Remember any of those moments? And, in #50 (April 2022), Spider-Man got ambushed by the Red Skull (who had really been hoping to trap Captain America), setting him on a path of anguish and anger (Spider-Man’s No Good, Very Bad Night) that led him to don his Spider-Armor costume, then to discard it for the black suit underneath that he’s wearing today. Don’t forget installment #1 (December of 2020!), where the Heroes for Hire app was launched, Tony forgot to put on the faceplate of his Iron Man armor, and Guardian got in an argument with Red Guardian, teasing a fight that’s still yet to come to pass!

A lot has happened in this comic, since it began, and I hope you’ve enjoyed the time you’ve spent reading it, whether you’re one of the folks in-the-know who’ve been with it since Instagram, or you’ve recently stumbled across my little corner of the internet! Here’s to plenty more action figure adventures!

If you have only just now browsed to Pizzarat.net… Welcome! I hope you stay a while! Feel free to use the links below to catch up on the most recent storyarc:

  • Part One (wherein we visit the Negative Zone, and New Mexico, and Long Island!)
  • Part Two (wherein terrible foes make a fresh, unwelcome alliance!)
  • Part Three (wherein the Beast and Jocasta both take action!)
  • Part Four (wherein Jocasta escapes, and Kate Neville infiltrates!)
  • Part Five (wherein sides are chosen, and fights are threatened!)
  • Part Six (wherein the President and his rival join the fray, in their own way!)
  • Part Seven (wherein Kirby calls Stryker a creep, and some fights break out, too!)

(Spider-Man’s probably overdue for a costume change, isn’t he?)

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
