All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers #131 – ‘I’m Sorry to Inform You’

Posted on March 20, 2024March 20, 2024 by phil.wrede
Our Cap squares off against the Starjammer’s Cap, atop Avengers Tower. “How dare you wear that uniform!” our Cap declares. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents, ‘I’m Sorry to Inform You’,” is visible at the top of the image.
The two Caps each declare one another to be frauds.
Starjammer Cap throws a punch at our Cap, which is easily blocked.
Our Cap swings his shield up into the other Cap’s face, knocking him onto the helicopter pad.
As our Cap stands over the other Cap, and begins to make a speech, other Cap throws his shield.
Cap barely deflects the other Cap’s shield in time, but is distracted just long enough for other Cap to leap to his feet and rush forward.
The other Cap kicks into Cap’s shield, gaining just enough time to catch his own shield from a midair ricochet.
Cap charges into the other Cap, shield first, and knocks him off his feet.
Cap drives the other Cap down into the landing pad again, pressing his shield into the intruder’s chest.
Cap threatens to get the truth out of the other Cap by force, and the other Cap mocks him for threatening torture.
The other Cap kicks our Cap off him, sending him flying high into the air.
Cap lands on his feet, but doesn’t get a chance to catch his breath before the other Cap drives his knee square into his face.
Other Cap punches our Cap and jams his shield into the downed Avenger’s throat.
The tables turned, the intruder Cap threatens to slice our hero’s head clear off his body.
Before the other Cap can deliver on his threat, he’s nailed square in the back by the thrown shield of John Walker, the U.S. Agent, who’s arrived just in time.
Moon Knight, too, threatens to join the fight. The other Cap knows when to back off. and stashes his shield on his back.
As the other Cap jumps away, down to the street below, U.S. Agent helps our Cap to his feet.
The three heroes discuss their mutual loathing for this mystery Cap. Moon Knight wonders, if he’s affiliated with the Starjammers, if that means he’s an alien from space?

Here it is, the battle that we (or I, at least) have been anticipating for months, ever since they first met! Captain America versus Captain America! One, bearing a philosophy that speaks to our better nature (our ideals, even). The other, wielding the classic justifications of the oppressor!

Who will come out on top? Will anybody’s true identity ever be revealed? Nothing’s impossible!

(Really, U.S. Agent met the intruder Cap first, so he’s been waiting for this fight longer than anybody.)

This arc in the “main story” of the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe has gone on far longer than I expected it to, so I certainly wouldn’t blame anybody who wanted a refresher on the adventure so far. Please, feel free to help yourself to the list of links below:

  • Part 1 (wherein Tony and Reed try to get Jonah’s help)
  • Part 2 (wherein the Midtown High AV Club gets their teacher’s help)
  • Part 3 (wherein the palladium discovery gets shared with the world)
  • Part 4 (wherein Jonah takes the bait)
  • Part 5 (wherein the Tracksuit Mafia starts to ruin the evening)
  • Part 6 (wherein Miles Morales unveils a new costume)
  • Part 7 (wherein the Sandman’s glass jaw is revealed, and Tony Stark bids a hasty retreat)
  • Part 8 (wherein the Tracksuit Mafia unveils their newest, secretest weapon!)
  • Part 9 (wherein the desk jockeys save the day!)
  • Part 10 (wherein the Starjammers join the fray!)

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
