All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers #127 – ‘The Sound Is Too Persuasive’

Posted on February 21, 2024February 21, 2024 by phil.wrede
Outside of Midtown High, in the midst of a nighttime snowstorm, the Thing and the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four face off with a member of the Tracksuit Mafia, and longtime Spider-Man nemesis Sandman. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘The Sound Is Too Persuasive’,” is visible at the top of the image.
The Thing tells the villains to back off, and they, well, they refuse.
The Torch blasts some fire from an outstretched hand, and the heat affects Sandman’s molecular structure in a dramatic way.
Sandman has been turned into a glass statue of himself, unable to move or even speak. His Tracksuit Mafia associate beats feet away from the confrontation.
The Thing appraises the immobile Sandman as he approaches.
Raising his hands, the Thing then claps them together upon Sandman, shattering the villain into a million pieces.
Inside the high school, S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill hands a baton-type weapon to Midtown High teacher Mr. DeMatteis (“played” here by an action figure of Andrew Garfield from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and named for legendary comics creator J.M. DeMatteis). He and Coach Sink (named for legendary comics artist Bill Sienkiewicz, and “played” here by an action figure of John Cena) stand in the school’s hallway. They’re staying behind as Agent Hill escorts Tony Stark from the building.
Hill pops on a pair of combat claws (not unlike Wolverine’s adamantium appendages) as she prepares to protect Stark.
Hill and Stark make their way down the hall, to a staircase that leads to the rooftop.
As they climb on the roof, they see Tony’s current flame, the android Jocasta, piloting an Avengers skycycle. As she lands, Tony thanks Hill for her concern.
As he climbs on the skycycle, Tony promises Hill that he will never let S.H.I.E.L.D. get its hands on the palladium in the Negative Zone. After he flies away, Hill quietly disagrees.

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
