All-New, All-Eventful Avengers #113 – ‘The Truth Will Blow’

Posted on November 8, 2023November 8, 2023 by phil.wrede
Inside of Justin Hammer’s Long Island mansion, the wheelchair-bound Tony Stark is faced by Spymaster, who has his gun drawn, though not exactly pointed at Stark’s head. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Eventful Avengers Presents… ‘The Truth Will Blow’,” is visible at the top of the image.
Outside, a member of the Tracksuit Mafia confronts Drax, but the Destroyer just kicks him into next week.
Stark accuses Spymaster of having a lame plan to accost him; Spymaster corrects him, and says he has a business proposition for the billionaire!
Outside again, Tigra attacks a HYDRA agent, while the real Captain America argues with the mystery Cap (“played” by the Ultimate Captain America action figure).
Cap and Ultimate Cap debate the virtues they think America wants in their heroes. Ultimate Cap argues for violence; the real Cap strives to be more eloquent.
Spymaster is suddenly shot in the side with an arrow. As he falls to the floor, he reveals the Starjammer known as Yondu.
Ultimate Cap strikes our real Captain America, and Yondu walks through the mansion, toward Stark.
Reed Richards (AKA Mister Fantastic) and Susan Storm-Richards (AKA the Invisible Woman) step beside Tony, as Ultimate Cap goes on to directly threaten Cap.
Cap responds to the threat as cooly as he is able, and Yondu makes the case to Stark that he should reconsider how he perceives the Starjammers.
As Ultimate Cap walks off, taking one parting shot at our Cap, Tony and Reed discuss how they need to begin collaborating to advance his discovery from the Negative Zone.
On a nearby rooftop outside, Kate Bishop is confronted by another HYDRA agent, at least until Black Widow slides through her legs and stuns the attacker with her wrist-mounted blaster.
The downed HYDRA agent moans in pain, while on the street, Cap asks She-Hulk if she thinks he’s properly engaged with current-day politics.

Welcome, finally, to the exciting conclusion of this adventure in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe! Although Justin Hammer has weaseled out of appearing in the last couple installments, it was his poor party planning that set the stage for this disastrous turn of events.

Well, disastrous for some, like Spymaster, the Vision, the Shocker, and pretty much everybody who’s ever put on a HYDRA uniform (deservedly so). On the other hand, one might say that J. Jonah Jameson, and even the Starjammers, came out ahead after the Hammer Gala.

Hopefully, now, it’s time to get down to the real business of understanding what exactly the Fantastic Four brought back with them from the Negative Zone, and maybe, just possibly, doing some work that could make the world better! On the other other hand, the mystery Captain America might just throw a big old monkey wrench into the machinery of progress…

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
