All-New, All-Investigative Avengers #164 – ‘Secrets of the Starjammers’

Posted on November 27, 2024November 26, 2024 by phil.wrede
In a dark, round hallway, Jay Hansen raises his arms high, declaring, “I’m putting together a team… with a particular set of skills!” The title of this comic, “All-New, All-Investigative Avengers Presents… ‘Secrets of the Starjammers’,” is visible at the top of the image.
In the past, Drax the Destroyer poses in the Utah mountains, as he’s discovered by Hansen.
Next, Hansen meets Yondu in the New York Athletic Club, as Yondu pushes his body with demanding exercises.
Hansen introduces himself to Mantis on the NYU campus. He offers her a better instructor for her mental powers than Charles Xavier.
In a rave tent at Glastonbury, Hansen convinces Emma Frost to come work for him, and train Mantis.
At Marshall College, Hansen reconnects with his favorite college professor, Dr. Clark Connors (“played” here by an action figure of Sean Connery from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade), and convinces him to come work for him, as well.
At Fashion Week (at an unnamed location), Hansen introduces himself to the alien cyborg supermodel Nebula, and convinces her to join his team, as well.
At the site of the ruins of Camelot, Hansen meets Dane Whitman, the Black Knight, and brings him on board as a Starjammer.
Outside of the Hansen Industries HQ building, Jay and Corsair make a deal, and Corsair becomes the field leader of the Starjammers. In the present, Iron Man and Captain America disagree vehemently with Hansen’s story about the origin of his team (except for the part about the Black Knight being related to a Knight of the Round Table).

While Corsair made his first solo appearance in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe about a year and a half ago, it took a little longer for the Starjammers proper to start throwing their weight around. Corsair’s been a problematic figure from the jump, which has hopefully made anybody who associates with him (including his employer) suspicious. Today, we get secretive billionaire Jay Hansen’s side of the story, so come back next week if you want to read… the truth (maybe)!

Like always, if you’re new to Pizzarat.net, or could use a refresher on the story so far, feel free to visit the below links for some more reading fun:

  • Part One (wherein the Starjammers threaten the Avengers, and New York City!)
  • Part Two (wherein Iron Man, and Captain America, finally rejoin the fight)

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
