All-New, All-Investigative Avengers #163 – ‘Guilt Had Forced Her to Land’

Posted on November 20, 2024November 20, 2024 by phil.wrede
Jay Hansen, Nebula, and the Starjammers’ phony Captain America stand in a line next to one another in the nighttime streets of New York City. The title of this comic, “All-New, All-Investigative Avengers Presents… ‘Guilt Had Forced Her to Land’,” is visible at the top of the image.
She-Hulk’s conversation with Ironheart is interrupted when she’s attacked by the Starjammer Yondu, who brandishes an energy whip, instead of his trademark bow and arrow.
Yondu tries to incapacitate She-Hulk with the energy whip, but it is worse than useless.
She-Hulk yanks on the whip with enough force to send Yondu flying high into the air.
Yondu falls on the ground in front of Nebula, Hansen, and the false Cap. Just as Nebula starts to advance on She-Hulk, something happens off-panel to interrupt her…
It’s Iron Man, dressed in his nifty new Extremis armor, flying out of the sky and landing nearby.
Iron Man advances on the Starjammers; he and Hansen do a bit of verbal riposte-ing.
As Iron Man and the false Cap almost come to blows, the man-who-is-not-Captain-America is struck in the knee by a shield that’s a stealthy blue color.
The Starjammer Cap is struck several more times by an invisible assailant, and then knocked away. The true Captain America - Steve Rogers - reveals himself and catches his shield on the rebound, wearing his costume from the opening of ‘The Winter Soldier’ film. He thanks Iron Man for the cloaking device in this costume; Iron Man reminds him to actually thank Tony Stark (as Iron Man’s true identity isn’t publicly known in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe). Iron Man and Cap declare their intention to reveal the Starjammers’ “secret” at the end of the comic!

It’s been a little while since we last saw Iron Man in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe, and even longer since an appearance by the real Captain America! I don’t know – do you guys* think things are about to get even more serious??

Hey, if it’s your first time here at Pizzarat.net, welcome! And, regardless of whether you’ve been here before – if you need a refresher on this arc of the story so far, you only have to go back to last week’s comic:

  • Part One (wherein the Starjammers threaten the Avengers, and New York City!)

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
