All-New, All-Eventful Avengers #112 – ‘In Warning Winds’

Posted on November 1, 2023October 29, 2023 by phil.wrede
Captain America holds his shield in front of his face to deflect the gunfire of a nearby HYDRA agent. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Eventful Avengers Presents… ‘In Warning Winds’,” is visible in the top-left corner of the image.
As she watches Captain America in action outside of Justin Hammer’s Long Island beach estate, She-Hulk contacts Kate Bishop and the Black Widow on a nearby rooftop. They complain that Cap didn’t reply to the group text, and nobody wants to help him set up his phone.
A member of the Tracksuit Mafia interrupts She-Hulk’s conversation by striking her on the back with a baseball bat. The blow doesn’t phase her. Up above, in the sky, the Hobgoblin readies one of his pumpkin bombs.
Across the street from She-Hulk, the Shocker reaches out and electrocutes Corsair, who in the previous comic strip had held a gun on the super-criminal. Corsair coughs and struggles to get to his feet after the shock.
Mantis tackles the Shocker, as he’s readying a final strike on Corsair. She uses her mental abilities to knock the Shocker out, after first smashing his face into the pavement.
Kate Bishop detonates the Hobgoblin’s explosive weapon with a perfectly-aimed arrow; the pumpkin bomb blows up in the Hobgoblin’s hand. The Tracksuit mafioso slowly backs away from She-Hulk as she advances on him.
The Hobgoblin’s high-tech glider starts to glow and malfunction, which turns out to be the result of the Scarlet Witch using her hex power on it. Her current beau, the Eternal Kingo, cheers her on.
Cap bowls over another HYDRA agent with his shield, as the Scarlet Witch focuses her power ever more precisely on the Hobgoblin’s glider.
High in the air, the Hobgoblin falls completely off his glider. Kate Bishop and the Black Widow avert their eyes from what’s to come.
Hobgoblin hits the pavement with a loud THUD in front of the Scarlet Witch and Kingo. He begs with them to call an ambulance, but Kingo just knocks him out with one of his energy blasts.
Cap slides across the street and kicks one HYDRA agent in the stomach, while knocking a second over by throwing his shield.
Another HYDRA agent pulls a gun on Cap, but is hit in the throat by… another star-spangled shield. Cap retrieves his, and wonders who threw that other shield. He looks off-panel, and is shocked by what he sees.
The Ultimate Captain America action figure (who confronted U.S. Agent on the city streets some weeks earlier, and, in the context of the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe, is a completely different person from the Captain America we know) catches his shield on the rebound.
As our Cap stands up, and tries to puzzle through the situation, Spymaster approaches the wheelchair-bound Tony Stark inside of Justin Hammer’s mansion, having taken advantage of all the commotion outside to sneak in.

The Hammer Gala just continues to get further and further out of its host’s control this week! There’s so much going on that Justin Hammer doesn’t even have time to make an appearance in this comic strip! But, at least we’ve got Captain America, She-Hulk, Mantis, the Scarlet Witch, and Kingo in here to pick up the slack. Wanda actually gets to do something in her appearance, this time, instead of just standing around looking sad.

It’s been about two months since the mystery Cap made his first appearance alongside the conspiracy-mongering Corsair and his Starjammers – have you been wondering what their ultimate objective is? Well… you don’t have to wait too much longer to learn a little more. Just another week!

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
