Welcome back to the Fabulous Frog-Man! It’s been a bit since his last visit to these parts. I don’t know if getting beaten up by a giant Russian is absolutely worse than having to haul a billionaire through the streets of New York City, but neither is a way I’d prefer to spend my evenings….

In the hallways of Midtown High, Mr. DeMatteis and Coach Sink (“played” here by action figures of Andrew Garfield from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and named for legendary comics creator J.M. DeMatteis, and by an action figure of John Cena, named for legendary comics artist Bill Sienkiewicz, respectively) look like they’re ready for something to go down. Coach Sink is taking off his trademark baseball cap, and Mr. D carries the tactical baton that Agent Maria Hill left him in the last comic. The title of this strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘Standing In The Way’,” is visible at the top of the image.

Sorry, friends, for the nearly-nonexistent blog posts for the last couple of weeks, but it’s been about all I can do to get the comic out on time. Maybe next week will be less… hectic! As always, if you’re joining our story in progress, feel free to use these handy links to go back to…

Outside of Midtown High, in the midst of a nighttime snowstorm, the Thing and the Human Torch from the Fantastic Four face off with a member of the Tracksuit Mafia, and longtime Spider-Man nemesis Sandman. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘The Sound Is Too Persuasive’,” is visible at the top of the image.

The Battle for Midtown High commences (and may actually conclude) in this week’s comic! But, the war for the Negative Zone, and the almost impossible amount of palladium it contains, is just beginning… In case you’re joining our story, already in progress, welcome! Let’s get you up to speed with links to the prior installments…

A member of the Tracksuit Mafia stands in front of a brick wall at night, as snow has begun to fall. He holds a flaming molotov cocktail in one hand, and shouts, “Fire it up, bro!” The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘Moods Are So Abrasive’,” is visible at the top of the image.

In the Midtown High AV classroom, Tony Stark leans back on the couch, while speaking on a livestream video interview to the AV club’s faculty sponsor, Mr. DeMatteis (“played” here by an action figure of Andrew Garfield from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and named for legendary comics creator J.M. DeMatteis). “Everyone knows palladium powers Iron Man’s arc reactor!” Tony says. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘Now Who Inspires You?’,” is visible at the top of the image.

Well, after a brief detour to the studios in the iconic Daily Bugle building, we’re back here at Midtown High, as Tony Stark and Reed Richards continue their bombshell palladium announcement to the world! Miles’ questions for Reed are, it’s probably obvious to anyone who read the post that accompanied the comic-before-the-last, another attempt to…

On the set of his late-night-style talk show, Daily Bugle editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson turns to the “camera” and declares, “You didn’t think I forgot about you, did you?” The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘No Sleep ’til Jonah’,” is visible at the top of the image.

Welcome back to ‘No Sleep ‘Til Jonah,’ everybody! It’s been a little bit since U.S. Agent dropped off the phone with incriminating photos at the Bugle, so the next phase of whatever he had in mind must finally be under way! Do you think he was in on the plan Jocasta, Tony, and Rhodey made?…

The Midtown High AV Club tech classroom has been set up for the Tony Stark and Reed Richards presentation, with a couch, a refreshment table, and a stool. In a suit, Tony Stark sits on the couch, while club faculty sponsor Mr. DeMatteis (named for iconic comics creator J.M. DeMatteis, and “played” here by an action figure of Andrew Garfield) sits on the stool. He says to Tony, “Never fear, Mr. Stark - I don’t know enough about celebrities to ask gossip-y questions, anyway!” The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘Help Me Find a Way’,” is visible at the top of the image.

Welcome back to Midtown High, and the internet livestream presentation that will (eventually, hopefully) change the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe as we know it! One of my goals for the comic in 2024 is to consider the impact that the Avengers, their friends, and their foes have on the world around them,…

Mr. DeMatteis, an English teacher at Midtown High (named for iconic comics creator J.M. DeMatteis, and “played” here by an action figure of Andrew Garfield) sits on his classroom desk, looking off into the distance and drinking a soda. The title of this comic strip, “All-New, All-Good-PR Avengers Presents… ‘When There’s No Air to Breathe In’,” is visible in the top-right corner of the image.

The Midtown High AV club’s plan comes to fruition (or near enough, anyway) this week! Months after abruptly quitting their internships at the Daily Bugle, they’re back in the media game. All it took was a lot of patience, and one of their number landing one of the most coveted internships in the Phil Wrede…

We see the faces of New York City Mayor Gruenwald (“played” by an action figure of Peter Capaldi), President Kirby (“played” by an action figure of Bruce Campbell), and Major Steinberg (“played” by an action figure of Elisabeth Sladen on a video call. Even though this is the beginning of a whole new storyarc in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Univerise, it might be helpful to go back and read the previous installments of All-New, All-Capitol Avengers, if you haven’t already: (This is also building off a foundation laid by my Fantastic Four-centric arc from a…

We’ve arrived at the end of this arc of the story in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe! If you haven’t been keeping up with All-New, All-Capitol Avengers, you could go back and read all the other installments: It sure feels like this sometimes-hot, sometimes-cold war that S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Avengers have going…

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
