RANGERS #6 – “Go Go Threats of Violence!”

Standing directly opposite them, the Space Ranger Andros tries to hide inside his cloak and says, “I’m just sitting. Is there some law against sitting?” “There sure is!” Syd replies.

She whips out her baton and explains, “It’s called vagrancy, and the property owner called you in, so please, move along!”

Andros brushes his hood off his head, and displays the laser pistol in the holster on his hip. “And, if I don’t leave this public place?” he asks.

The villain Goldar complains to the Blue Senturion. “Why haven’t you dragged him away?” he asks. “Sir, we have procedures,” the Senturion tries to assure him.

“Yeah, those procedures are to oppress and enslave!” somebody shouts from off-panel, as Syd and the A-Squad Rangers turn in confusion.

Zack, the Black Ranger, and Billy, the Blue Ranger, approach with weapons in hand. “So, why don’t you make like Putties…” Zack begins the threat, and Billy finishes, “…and patrol elsewhere.”

Goldar points to Zack and Billy, telling the Senturion, “Those Rangers! I hate them most of all! Arrest them, too!”

Zack and Billy take up position around Andros. Andros has discarded his cloak, and unholstered his laser pistol. “We don’t want trouble,” Andros says. “So, if you stop starting some, there won’t be any,” Billy emphasizes.

The credits for this comic strip, including the photographer whose picture provided some of the background, the use of fonts by Blambot, acknowledgement of the creators and owners of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, Power Rangers in Space, and Power Rangers S.P.D., and that the character photography, script, and lettering were all done by me, Phil Wrede.

Again, full disclosure: just like Power Rangers in Space, I never watched Power Rangers S.P.D. or Power Rangers Turbo, so the characterization of anybody represented in plastic here from those programs is, I’m sure, wildly inaccurate at best. But, it’s all done in service of some extremely unsubtle sociopolitical commentary; it’s not just inaccuracy for its own sake!
