In my post for the last installment of this comic, I mentioned how formative Space Ghost: Coast to Coast was to my sense of humor. On the other side of the coin – my sense of dread – Disney’s The Black Hole probably holds a similar influential position. If you’ve not come across it before, dear reader, Jason Heller’s article about the movie sums up its potency better than I ever could. It’s not a perfect movie (far from it), but if you encounter it at the right moment, it’s better than perfect. It sears itself on your brain.
I’m not hypothesizing here that Space Ghost’s intangible prison exists in the same alternate universe where the surviving heroes of The Black Hole ended up; I just think V.I.N.C.E.N.T. is a fantastic little character, and thought he and SG would bounce well off one another.
