All-New, Overworked Avengers #47 – ‘One of These Days, I’ll Chase You Down’

Outside of the breached wall surrounding The Vault, Cable beckons to the rest of X-Force. The title of the comic strip, “All-New, Overworked Avengers Presents… ‘One of These Days, I’ll Chase You Down’,” is visible at the top of the image.
Thunderstrike, Darkhawk, and a number of Vault Guardsmen stand in X-Force’s way.
X-Force sizes up their opposition, and heads out to join the battle.
Sunspot stares down a Guardsman, while Sunfire leaps into the sky.
Dazzler fires bright lights directly into Shatterstar’s eyes, as Sunfire knocks Darkhawk out of the air.
Sunspot and Warpath dispatch the Vault Guardsmen standing in their way.
In the commotion, Cable and Dazzler run toward Shatterstar’s cell.
Cable blows the cell door open, and Shatterstar emerges from the rubble.
Warpath tosses Shatterstar’s signature swords to him, but X-Force notices that there’s something… wrong with him.
At the top half of the image, Shatterstar attacks his friends. At the bottom half are the credits for the comic strip, citing the Unsplash users whose photographs were the background art, the ownership of Marvel by Disney, the creation of Marvel characters by actual human beings, and the figure photography/script/lettering by me, Phil Wrede.

I really enjoyed how a lot of the “visual effects” in this strip turned out; it’s taken something like 14 months of regularly working on the comic, but I think I’m finally starting to make it look good more often than I don’t!
