Marvel Short #55 – Spider-Protector’s New Friend: Leo-Sp//dr!

Posted on July 8, 2023September 19, 2023 by phil.wrede
On an alternate Earth, Spider-Protector (the Spider-Man of his reality) boots up his mechanized partner - Leo-Sp//dr - for the first time!
Leo-Sp//dr declares, "Speech circuits connected. Vocal function active." Spider-Protector observes, "I still don't know if you talking is a good idea, but, what the heck?"
Leo-Sp//dr stands in the background, recharging, while Spider-Protector (not wearing his mask, revealing his true identity: Jimmy Woo!) hangs out with his world's Ant-Man. Spider-Protector proudly announces, "The ant and the spider, together once again!" while Ant-Man holds his hands over his mouth, remarking, "Your giant robot is really... intimidating!"
The credits for the comic strip, citing the Unsplash users whose photographs were the background art, the ownership of Marvel by Disney, the creation of Marvel characters by actual human beings, and the figure photography/script/lettering by me, Phil Wrede.

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
