Batman’s Reluctant Team-up!

Posted on June 23, 2023December 23, 2023 by phil.wrede
At a computer console in the Batcave (a playset of the Batcave from the Batman ’66 TV series), Jean-Paul Valley attempts to type a query, while wearing his full armor Batman costume. “Stupid spike… fingers,” he complains to himself. “They make typing so hard!”
A loud clicking noise behind Jean-Paul Valley startles him, and he places his mask on his head and turns around, ready to do battle. “Who disturbs the Batman?!” he demands.
Down from the Bat-elevator have arrived Alfred Pennyworth, who’s stayed on as butler at Wayne Manor, and Steel, in his full armor costume. “Master Paul,” Alfred begins, “may I present John Henry Irons, the Man of Steel.” Steel follows his introduction up simply saying, “Hey.”
Steel approaches Jean-Paul Valley with his hand extended, and says, “I thought, maybe, since we’re both new, we could team - “ He’s interrupted as Jean-Paul screams, “Batman works alone!”
The credits for this comic strip, listing the original creators of each character and series, the use of fonts by Blambot, and the photography, script, and lettering, which were done by me, Phil Wrede.

Welcome to PizzaRat dot Net, where I (Phil Wrede) post my toy comics!

The Idea

Comics, but with photos, instead of drawings.

The Process

Using stock photos as backgrounds, and digitally pasting photos of action figures over them. Graphic design software enables the lettering.

The Point

To make comics, to share stories, and to retroactively justify all the money I've spent on action figures over the years.
