I’ve mentioned before that I’m a big fan of Julia Carpenter’s Spider-Woman; there was an annual issue of Avengers West Coast (looks like #7, from a cursory internet search) where she was at the old Stapleton Airport* in Denver, and rescued an airplane that was careening off the runway in a winter storm. Julia had a lot of the same issues balancing her work and her personal life that Peter Parker did, and I’ve always loved those kinds of stories. I haven’t done a great job figuring out how to incorporate them in the Phil Wrede Marvel Action Figure Comic Universe yet, but I hope I’m only a couple of appropriate “secret identity” figures away from making that happen…
Anyway, this is obviously a little bit of a “palate cleanser” comic, lacking any substantial plot progress or a fight scene, but I think there are at least a few fun character moments here, and some photographs that are nice to look at! I’m happy with how it turned out.
*If you’re reading this, you probably know that a number of the scenes in Die Hard 2 were shot in that airport – which was named for a Denver mayor who basically turned the city government over to the KKK, in order to get their support for a recall election campaign that he won – but if you didn’t, now you do!
